Emmerin is a French municipality with 3172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lille and the Canton of Faches-Thumesnil (until 2015: Haubourdin ). The inhabitants are called Emmerinois (es) .

geography

Emmerin is located in the Mélantois countryside and is one of the banlieues of Lille . Emmerin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Haubourdin in the north and west, Loos-lez-Lille in the east and northeast, Wattignies in the southeast, Noyelles-lez-Seclin in the south and Houplin-Ancoisne in the southwest.

history

The place is said to have been founded in 486. In a bull by Pope Pascal II, the place is then named as Amerin 1104.
