Lannoy (NDL .: "Lanno" lat, .: Lanoia ) is a French municipality with 1773 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Croix , and with an area of ​​only 0.15 km² is one of the smallest, but also most densely populated communities in France.

geography

The parish has only two neighboring parishes: Lys-lez-Lannoy and Hem . Lannoy is well connected to the national road network. Lannoy is also served by Transpole bus routes.

history

The name of the municipality is mentioned for the first time under the form Lannoit 1233. The place is expanded into a fortress in 1458 by Johann von Lannoy . During the industrialization some factories settled in Lannoy.
