Beaucamps-Ligny is a northern French municipality with 856 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Lille and is part of the canton of Lille-6 (until 2015: canton of Lomme ). The inhabitants are called Beaucampois .
geography
Beaucamps-Ligny is located about ten kilometers west-southwest of the city center of Lille near the border with Belgium . Beaucamps-Ligny is surrounded by the municipalities of Radinghem-en-Weppes in the north, Escobecques in the northeast, Erquinghem-le-Sec in the east, Hallennes-lez-Haubourdin in the east and southeast, Santes in the southeast, Wavrin in the south and southeast, Fournes- en-Weppes to the south and west and Le Maisnil to the northwest.
history
Legend has it that Thomas Becket was arrested here in 1164 .
In 1927 the municipalities of Beaucamps and Ligny-en-Weppes were merged.
