Fretin ( Flemish : Fraaituin ) is a French municipality with 3380 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . Fretin belongs to the arrondissement of Lille and the canton of Templeuve (until 2015: canton of Pont-à-Marcq ). The inhabitants call themselves Fretinois (es) .

geography

Fretin is about ten kilometers southeast of Lille in the Mélantois countryside . Fretin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lesquin in the north and northwest, Sainghin-en-Mélantois in the north and northeast, Péronne-en-Mélantois in the east, Templeuve in the southeast, Ennevelin in the south, Avelin in the southwest.

The eastern part of Lille airport is in the municipal area. The A23 autoroute runs through the municipality . Here is also a triangle of the LGV Nord .
