Templemars is a commune with 3344 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . Templemars belongs to the Arrondissement of Lille and is part of the Canton of Faches-Thumesnil (until 2015: Canton of Seclin-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Templemarois .
geography
Templemars is located in the metropolitan area south of Lille . Templemars is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Wattignies in the north and north-west, Faches-Thumesnil in the north-east, Vendeville in the east, Avelin in the south-east and Seclin in the south and west.
Wattignies-Templemars station is on the Paris – Lille railway line . The A1 autoroute leads through the municipality .
history
The name suggests a Martian temple from the Gallo-Roman period. Archaeologists suggest that a Celtic settlement was built by Caesar's troops in 52 BC. Was destroyed and a temple in honor of the god of war was built as a token of victory.
