Paul Deman

The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1920 was the 21st edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 4th, 1920.

The race went over 280 kilometers from Suresnes in freezing rain . 93 racing drivers started, 22 of whom were able to place. The winner Paul Deman completed the race at an average speed of 25.95 km / h .

Numerous racing drivers retired in the course of the race. Towards the end, four drivers were leading: Lucien Buysse , Paul Deman, Honoré Barthélémy and Henri Pélissier , two Belgians and two French. Two kilometers before Roubaix , however, Deman was on his own in the lead and finally won at the Jean-Dubrulle stadium , as Pélissier had a flat tire and Buysse and Barthélémy were held back by other defects on their bikes.
