The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1948 was the 46th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 4th, 1948.
The race led from Saint-Denis , north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 246 kilometers long. The number of starters and those who arrived at the finish is unknown, and only the times of the first eight are recorded. The winner Rik Van Steenbergen completed the race at an average speed of 43.992 km / h .
Rik Van Steenbergen caught up with a small group of leading riders when they reached Roubaix . Émile Idée tried an attack, knowing that Van Steenbergen was hard to beat in the sprint. When Idée looked around, only Van Steenbergen followed. Van Steenbergen easily overtook him on the cycling track .
