Ishmael ben Elisha ha-Kohen Gadol
Ishmael ben Elisha ha-Kohen Gadol (Hebrew ישמעאל בן אליש כהן גדול) was a Jewish scholar in the late 1st century. He is counted among the 1st generation Tannaites .
Ishmael's father was a high priest ( Kohen Gadol ) in the Temple of Jerusalem before it was destroyed. In the Midrash Elle ezkera , Ishmael is counted among the ten martyrs . He should, together with Shimon ben Gamaliel I. have been killed.
His grave is in Sajur (Sajur) in Galilee.
