Ten martyrs
The Ten Martyrs (Hebrew עשרת הרוגי מלכות Aseret Harugei Malchut ) are Jewish scholars who were killed in the first and early second centuries after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and in the persecution under Emperor Hadrian .
The stories are contained in the midrash Elle ezkera .
They are recited at Yom Kippur in Musaf , at Tisha beAv a similar story is read as Kinot (קינות) ( Arzei ha Lebanon ).
