Classique des Alpes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Classique des Alpes was a French road bike race .

The one-day race , which usually had its date at the beginning of June and took place in the Chartreuse and Bauges between the cities of Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains , was held for the first time in 1991 and last time in 2004. The Classique des Alpes was also part of the Coupe de France , a series of French one-day races from 1992 to 2004 . The record winner is Laurent Jalabert , who won the race twice.

With the creation of the UCI ProTour and the UCI Continental Circuits in 2005 , there was no longer a place in the cycling calendar for the event, which, like the Tour de France from Amaury Sport, was due to overlapping with other races, especially with preparatory races for the Tour de France Organization was organized.
