Laurent Roux

Laurent Roux (born December 3, 1972 in Cahors , France ) is a former French cyclist . He started his career in 1994 and was active until 2003. Roux celebrated his greatest success by winning a stage of the Giro d'Italia . He also won one-day races and the overall ranking of the Tour de l'Avenir .

In April 1999, Roux was tested positive for amphetamines for the first time at the Walloon Arrow and was banned for half a year. Another positive test in April 2002 earned him a four-year suspension and spelled the end of his cycling career in 2003. In 2006, Roux was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being found guilty of doping trafficking in the amateur cycling scene . In the course of the trial, Roux had admitted that he had consumed more and more doping substances over the course of his career, including Epo , growth hormone , cortisone and testosterone .
