Pierre-Roger Latour (born October 12, 1993 in Romans-sur-Isère ) is a French cyclist .
Career
Latour has been driving for Chambéry Cyclisme Formation , the farm team of the UCI WorldTeam AG2R La Mondiale , since 2012 . In 2013 he won the road race of the Jeux de la Francophonie and the junior competitions of the Ronde de l'Isard and the Tour du Languedoc-Roussillon .
In 2015 he received a regular contract with AG2R La Mondiale , for which he drove as a stagiaire at the end of the 2013 season. For this cycling team , he won the junior classifications of the Route du Sud and the Tour de l'Ain in 2015 , in which he also won a day segment.
In June 2016, he won the yellow jersey as the overall leader of the Tour de Suisse on the fifth stage after Carì . However, on the subsequent stage, Latour lost the yellow jersey again. At his first Grand Tour participation, the Vuelta a España 2016 , he achieved his first victory in a race of the UCI WorldTour . On the mountain finish of the 20th stage, he prevailed just ahead of Darwin Atapuma , who were both part of a 16-man breakaway group that had formed after around 50 kilometers of the 193-kilometer stage. He finished the tour in 28th place.
In 2017, Latour won the junior class of the Tour de Romandie and became French time trial champion. At the Tour de France , he led the junior classification for two days and was sixth in this classification at the end of the tour.
In the 2018 season, the Frenchman was third and winner of the junior class at the Tour of Catalonia , eighth overall at the Tour de Romandie and winner of the junior class at the Critérium du Dauphiné . He was also able to successfully repeat his national time trial title. In the Tour de France , Pierre Latour took over the leadership of the best young rider after the 10th stage, which he never gave up until Paris.
