Paul Köchli

Paul Köchli (born April 22, 1947 in Basel ) is a former Swiss cyclist and sports director of road cycling teams . He then became known as a training scientist.

Life

Paul Köchli achieved his greatest success as an amateur . In 1966 he became Swiss road racing champion . At the UCI Road World Championships in 1966 at the Nürburgring , he finished 11th in the amateur road race.

A year later he turned professional . After his active career, he became the sporting director of various professional cycling teams.

In 1985 and 1986 , Köchli led the entrepreneur Bernard Tapie La Vie Claire's team to victory in the Tour de France . With Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond , La Vie Claire was able to place first and second place finishers on the tour.

Köchli made a name for himself internationally as a renowned training scientist, which is why he is also called a bike professor . He wrote the Y + S leader manual (Y + S = youth and sport) for cycling supervisors in Switzerland and developed the PowerCoach software for cyclists.

Honors

In 1986 Paul Köchli was voted Swiss Trainer of the Year .
