Giro di Romagna

The Giro di Romagna (also Giro della Romagna , most recently Giro della Romagna et Coppa Placci ) is a former Italian cycling race .

The one-day race led through the historic Romagna landscape in northern Italy. It was held annually in September. Only seven foreigners could win the race, including the French Jean-Baptiste Dortignacq , who won the first event in 1910. The record winner is "il Campionissimo" Fausto Coppi , who won the Giro di Romagna three times. From 2005 to 2011 the race was part of the UCI Europe Tour and was classified in category 1.1.

In 2011 the two races Giro della Romagna and Coppa Placci were merged to form the Giro della Romagna et Coppa Placci . After the race was not held in 2012, it went on in 2013 in the race Memorial Marco Pantani , which in 2013 was called Memorial Marco Pantani-Giro della Romagna .
