Danilo Napolitano (born January 31, 1981 in Vittoria ) is an Italian racing cyclist .

Career

Napolitano became a professional in 2004 with the L.PR cycling team . In 2005 he was able to successfully demonstrate his sprinter skills. In addition to several victories in one-day races , he was able to win stages in the Settimana Internazionale , the Brixia Tour and the Tour du Poitou-Charentes . He then got a contract with the ProTeam Lampre-Fondital , where he achieved the most successful season with eight wins of the season. In 2007 he was able to win a stage in a major tour of the country for the first time, winning the ninth stage of the Giro d'Italia in a mass sprint ahead of Robbie McEwen and Alessandro Petacchi . So far it has been his only stage win in one of the three big tours. In 2014 he was the first Italian to win the Belgian one-day race Omloop van het Waasland .
