Jean-Baptiste Dortignacq

Jean-Baptiste Dortignacq (born April 25, 1884 in Arudy , † May 13, 1928 in Peyrehorade ) was a French cyclist .

He was a professional from 1904 to 1910. In his first year as a professional, "the Gazelle from Peyrehorade", as he was called, won two stages in the Tour de France and in the end came in second in the overall standings behind Henri Cornet . A year later he won three stages and came third in the overall ranking. In 1906 and 1908 he was also able to win one stage each.

In 1909 he won the Bordeaux – Toulouse and Paris – La Mer – Paris races. In 1910 he won the Giro della Romagna, which was held for the first time, and also won a stage at the Giro d'Italia . This made him the first non-Italian to do so.
