Arudy ( Occitan : Arudi ) is a French municipality with 2229 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The place belongs to the canton of Oloron-Sainte-Marie-2 (until 2015: canton of Arudy ) in the arrondissement of Oloron-Sainte-Marie . The inhabitants are called Arudyen (ne) s .
geography
Arudy is located about 21 kilometers south-southwest of Pau in the Pyrenees National Park in the Vallée d'Ossau on the Gave d'Ossau . Arudy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Buzy and Bescat in the north, Sévignacq-Meyracq in the northeast, Sainte-Colome in the east, Louvie-Juzon in the southeast, Izeste and Bilhères in the south, Escot in the southwest, Oloron-Sainte-Marie in the west and northwest as well Buziet in the northwest.
The former route nationale 618 runs through the municipality .
