In the 1385 census of the Béarn, 28 households were counted in Narp and the village was part of the Bailliage of Navarrenx . There was a lay monastery , vassal of the Viscount of Béarn, which endured through the centuries, for Théophile Saint-Jacques, one of the abbots, was received in the assembly of estates in 1625 . Attractions

  • The parish church, dedicated to the apostle Simon Peter , was built in the 19th century. The single nave nave is framed by two side chapels , which form a false transept, and is extended with a semicircular apse . A square bell tower above the entrance porch was added shortly after the church was completed. With its steeply inclined pyramid roof made of slate , which is typical of the Béarn der Gaves, it stands out from the long building. It has sound openings of the bell chamber on all four sides in the shape of a round arch. Glass windows of stained glass Mauméjean from Pau allow light into the interior. Neo-Romanesque paintings from the late 19th or early 20th century embellish the choir . They come from the Atelier Montaut in Oloron or from the painter Victor Querillacq. An oil painting dominates the back wall of the choir. It bears the heading “Christ gives the keys to St. Peter” and is signed by Paul Montaut (1806–1867) from Oloron. Paul came from a dynasty of artists whose works were very common in the churches of the region around Oloron from the 17th to the 20th century.
  • Lay monastery . It was probably built by his abbot at the end of the Middle Ages at the foot of the hill on which the parish church is located. In 1625 it was owned by Théophile Saint-Jacques, followed by the Sarraméa (1653–1715) and Darret families who came from Accous in the 17th century . The property consists of a residential wing, the outer walls of which are surrounded by a triple Genoese frieze consisting of a triple row of bricks in the mortar. The residential building has three floors and an attic as well as an extension on the north side. The roof of the building is steeply inclined and covered with flat tiles. Located on the south facade two small entrances in arched shape with rubble from sandstone framed. The entrance door made of corrugated wood is framed with stone , walls and beams . On the west side you can see two twin windows from the 16th century, which are now walled up. This also applies to the windows of the stair tower , which dates from the 17th century. Inside the lay monastery there is another staircase with thick balusters in the Louis Treize style.
  • Narp-Montfort train station. From 1901 to 1931, a local railway line was operated from Oloron-Sainte-Marie to Sauveterre-de-Béarn with a stop in Narp. The simple, two-story station building made of ashlar is now a privately owned residential building.
