Herrère Town Hall (Mairie)

Herrère ( Occitan : Herrera ) is a French municipality with 387 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Oloron-Sainte-Marie and the Canton of Oloron-Sainte-Marie-2 (until 2015: Canton of Oloron-Sainte-Marie-Est ). The inhabitants are called Herrèrois .

geography

Herrère is located about 19 kilometers southwest of Pau in the historic province of Béarn . The Gave d'Ossau crosses the municipality. Herrère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Escout in the north and north-west, Escou in the north and north-east, Ogeu-les-Bains in the east and Oloron-Sainte-Marie in the south and west.

The Pau – Canfranc railway line and the National Route 134 pass through the municipality. The Oloron-Herrère airfield is also located in the municipality.
