Parish Church of Saint-Etienne
Evangelical Church of Osses
  • Reformed church, called Bethel after the place Bet-El ( German House of God ) mentioned in the Bible . During the Reformation in Béarn, the Protestants of Osse used the Catholic parish church for their services until the previous building of the church was built in 1620. In 1686, one year after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes , the church was destroyed and the Protestant community from then on celebrated its services in barns. The present garden was once the Protestant cemetery, which was revived in 1789. Today's church is a new building from 1802, which was consecrated in 1805 and occupied by a pastor in 1821. In the following, Alfred Cardier deserves special mention, who was pastor of the Reformed community from 1877 to 1906. Next to the entrance, a stone from the original building with the inscription "Bethel Church of the Protestants" is built into the facade. A bell gable with a bell rises above the entrance on the east side of the church . Two windows on the north and south side transmit the light into the single nave nave with a sacristy , which also serves as a library. The pulpit is opposite the altar . Protestant services are also celebrated in the church today.
  • Fixed house . The former fortress house from the 13th or 14th century is located on the road to Bedous. It consists of a building with a rectangular floor plan and a square tower adjoining it and connected to it by doors on the ground floor and first floor. Loopholes can be seen on the remaining west, north and south facades. The former southern facade is covered by a house that was added in 1816. Some loopholes are walled up, others have been replaced with windows. In the 15th or 16th century, cross-frame windows were used on the first floor on the west and east sides. At the same time, a chimney was added on the north side, of which only the side walls can be seen today. Litter bays are on the north side at the level of the first and second floors of the tower. More windows were added in the 19th and 20th centuries, as was the gate entrance on the west side. The house is now privately owned and used as a shed.
  • Villa Elisée. It was built in the late 19th century in the style of a chalet . It has two floors, a basement and an attic. The main facade is its gable side , the verge of which is decorated with partly curved boards. The frames of the windows are made of alternating stones and bricks in bichrome, the corners of the wall are accentuated with interlocked stone . The portholes on the north-western side have gable roofs, on the top of which a gable ear rises. The villa is privately owned.
