Urdos

Urdos is a commune in the French Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the canton of Oloron-Sainte-Marie-1 in the Arrondissement of Oloron-Sainte-Marie .

Geography, infrastructure

Urdos borders Spain in the south . The neighboring municipalities in France are Etsaut in the north, Borce in the west and Laruns in the east.

The one at 1632 m. ü. Col de Somport is a Pyrenees crossing between Urdos and Canfranc and thus between France and Spain.

In Urdos there is a substation for traction current and a former station on the Pau – Canfranc railway line , between the Tunnel de Portalet and the Tunnel de Lagaube .
