German war cemetery in Korpowo
The German war cemetery Korpowo is a military cemetery about 60 kilometers southeast of Staraya Russa . It is located on the road from Staraya Russa to Demyansk near the village of Korpovo .
The site was built by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge for the German soldiers who fell in the Demyansk region (the Demyansk pocket ). It was inaugurated on September 2, 2001. About 60,000 dead can be bedded on the approximately four hectare site. By the end of 2016, around 38,212 dead had been embedded in the facility. 30,099 names were entered on 89 granite steles.
