Attractions
- Parish church of Saint-Julien in Licq. The origins of the church go back to the High Middle Ages . It was completely restored in the 19th century. In particular, the bell tower above the entrance porch with its polygonal helmet , the sacristy and the decoration inside were repaired. Inside the single-nave building, a gallery extends on three sides, which is traditionally reserved for men during a fair . The altar is made entirely of wood. Its base is provided with a bas-relief depicting the Lord's Supper , Jesus Christ with the twelve apostles . The baroque tabernacle is part of the altarpiece and is made from the same wood. The door is framed by two statues of saints and is decorated with a crucifix with garlands of plants. Above you can see two scallops , symbols of the Camino de Santiago to Santiago de Compostela . In the cemetery that surrounds the parish church, there are several disc-shaped grave steles, called Hilarri . One of these steles is decorated with a paw cross , which is reminiscent of the cross of the Knights Templar . A small figure in the style of naive art is carved out in each of the spaces , representing Basque folk art.

- Parish church in Athérey, dedicated to Quiricus and Julitta . It was certainly not built before the 17th century. The church has a square bell tower over the entrance and a steeply sloping roof. A painting inside the church shows Julitta in red clothes, as she extends a hand to her son Quiricus, who wears white clothes, who is holding a long, black quill in his left hand. The wooden altarpiece dates from the 17th century and is rather modest for a Basque church. It extends on two levels structured by some serpentine columns. Framed by several gilded wings with volutes , the retable is decorated with plant garlands and figures of saints as a bas-relief and provided with a tabernacle. Two angel statues on the sides complete the overall picture. Disc-shaped grave steles can also be seen in the adjacent cemetery, one of which is particularly old. It dates from the 15th century, while most of the others date from the 16th century. Despite the age, the sometimes enigmatic symbols on the stelae are still easy to recognize. Two suns and several crosses can be identified on a stele. In mythology and idiom, these symbols represent the idea of life. The sun is revered as a source of energy. Another stele depicts an animal that appears to have been pierced by a sword. Hilarri sometimes reveal the profession of the deceased, who in this case could have been a hunter.

- Laminak Bridge. Laminaks are charitable Imp of Basque mythology who live under the earth near sources or streams and come out only at night. Then they erect numerous structures such as fixed houses , churches, mills or dolmens in just one night. Legend has it that the residents of Licq turned to the Laminak and asked for a bridge to be built between the districts on both sides of the season. In return, the Laminak should be allowed to take the most beautiful girl from Licq with them. The fiancé was not very enthusiastic about this idea and resorted to a trick. He let the cock crow a few minutes before sunrise and thus caused the Laminak to flee. The bridge, however, was fully operational, only one stone was missing.
Economy and Infrastructure
Agriculture, including fishing, and tourism are the main economic drivers of the municipality. It also has a hydroelectric power station that supplies the entire Soule with electricity. Licq-Athérey is located in the AOC zones of Ossau-Iraty , a traditionally made semi-hard cheese made from sheep's milk, as well as the pig breed and the ham "Kintoa".
