Salies-de-Béarn ( Occitan Salias de Bearn ) is a French municipality with 4638 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The place is located in the historic Béarn landscape between the Gave de Pau in the north and Gave d'Oloron in the south and is crossed by the Saleys River itself . Salies-de-Béarn is known for its thermal baths , the mining of salt deposits and viticulture . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Oloron-Sainte-Marie (until 2016: Arrondissement Pau ) and the canton of Orthez et Terres des Gaves et du Sel (until 2015: Canton Salies-de-Béarn ).
