Further toponyms were subsequently Albescat (1270, documents of the archdeaconate of Ossau) and Besquat (1418, copy book of the archdeaconate of Ossau). In the census of 1385, 14 households were counted and it was noted that the village is in the Bailliage of the Archdeaconate of Ossau.
Great war damage was recorded during the Huguenot Wars . The residents of Bescat decided to stay with the Catholic denomination, while the neighboring town of Arudy switched to the Huguenots . The Pope thanked the place with the establishment of a brotherhood of the "Five Wounds of our Lord" ( Cinq plaies de Notre Seigneur ) in Bescat.
Bescat is entered in its present form on the map of Cassini in 1750, and was listed as Bercat during the French Revolution in 1793 .
