Lizier from Couserans
Lizier von Couserans , lat. Glycerius or Licerius , other Romanesque forms of the name Lézer , Líser , Licerio , Lliceri (* in the 5th century on the Iberian Peninsula ; † 548?) Was bishop of Couserans . He is venerated as a saint . Saint Lizier is the patron saint of the city and the cathedral of Saint-Lizier , where his tomb is venerated, as well as other places in southern France and Catalonia .
The list of the bishops of Couserans of Gallia Christiana names Glycerius in second place and Licerius in sixth place . The church historian Louis Duchesne suspects the same person in both. Glycerius is attested as a participant in the Synod of Agde 506. He is considered a student of St. Faustus von Riez . St. Lizier's prayer is said to have saved his episcopal city from an invasion by the Visigoths .
