Peter Meilchen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Meilchen (born December 13, 1948 in Linz am Rhein ; † October 27, 2008 in Neheim ) was a German painter, graphic artist, photographer and author.

Life

Meilchen, who moved to Neheim in 1983 after studying art, ran the “Scala” design office together with Jürgen Diehl († 2003) in the 1980s and 1990s. From the 1990s he only devoted himself to art.

In 1983 he was one of the founding members of the “Der Bogen” studio community. In this context he became known for his photographs, graphics, paintings and his writing activities. He also encouraged young people to paint through a project at the St. Ursula Gymnasium in Neheim. Meilchen has also prepared young artists for admission to art schools through preparatory courses. He was known as a "colorful bird" who preferred to wear black and white, which is why he was also called "the man with the white shoes" in artistic circles.

Meilchen died of cancer. He is buried in the Arnsberg cemetery "Rumbecker Holz".
