The Gave de Pau in Lourdes |
The Gave de Pau (in the upper reaches: Gave de Gavarnie ) is a river in southwest France , in the regions of Occitania and Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Its source stream rises in the Pyrenees National Park , in the so-called Cirque de Gavarnie , at the Col des Sarradets , at an altitude of about 2600 meters. It initially drains to the east, then swings north to northwest and after about 180 kilometers above Peyrehorade it meets the Gave d'Oloron , after which, under the new name Gaves Réunis, they cover the last kilometers to the confluence with the Adour .

- ↑ a b The information on the length of the river is based on the information about the Gave de Pau at SANDRE (French), accessed on August 10, 2011, rounded to full kilometers. The information there has been reduced by an estimated 12 kilometers, as the river Gaves Réunis is also included here.
