Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre ( Occitan : Sent Per ) is a French commune in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées in the region Occitania . It is located in the Argelès-Gazost arrondissement and the canton of Lourdes-1 .
geography
Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre has 1162 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on 43.44 square kilometers and is about nine kilometers west of Lourdes and about 23.5 kilometers southwest of Tarbes in the Bigorre on the Gave de Pau . The former route nationale 637 (today: D937) leads through the municipality . Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre train station is on the Toulouse – Bayonne railway line .
Attractions
In addition to the impressive Saint-Pierre church, which belongs to the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre (or Saint-Pé de Gayres) from 1022, the Bétharram caves are open to the public.
