Place name
In 1285 the place name Juulos appeared for the first time . This was followed by the spelling de Iulos (1313), the Latin de Julossio (1342) and already Julos (1429 and 1541), which finally became established as the name still used today with the appearance of the Cassini cards at the end of the 18th century. Probably Julos goes back to the Latin personal name Julius , with the Occitan suffix -ossum .
