Escoubès-Pouts is a French commune with 106 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Argelès-Gazost arrondissement and the Lourdes-2 canton (until 2015: Lourdes-Est canton ).

The inhabitants are called Escoubésiens and Escoubésiennes .

Escoubès-Pouts is about six kilometers east of Lourdes in the historic county of Bigorre .

Escoubès-Pouts is located in the catchment area of the Adour River . The Échez , one of its tributaries, crosses the territory of the municipality together with its tributary, the Litor.

history

The former municipality of Pouts joined the municipality of Escoubès in 1846, which from then on bears the name Escoubès-Pouts.

Population development

With the merger of Escoubès and Pouts, the population peaked at around 275 in the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 65 inhabitants with short recovery phases until the 1980s, before a phase of growth began continues today.
