Coarraze is a French commune with 2,176 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Vallées de l'Ousse et du Lagoin (until 2015: canton of Nay-Est ). Henry of Navarre , later King Henri IV and first Bourbon, spent the first years of his childhood in Coarraze.
geography
The municipality is located on the Gave de Pau River east of Nay . Coarraze is on the Toulouse – Bayonne railway line and shares a railway station with Nay. The Coarraze-Nay station is served by intercity and regional lines from TER Aquitaine and TER Midi-Pyrénées . Neighboring communities are:
- Bénéjacq in the north,
- Mirepeix and Nay in the northwest,
- St. Vincent in the east,
- Igon to the west and
- Montaut in the south.
