Bourdettes is located in the river Adour catchment area . The place is crossed by a tributary of the Luz , the Canal de l'Escourre and its tributary, the Ruisseau de Tutet. In addition, the Canal de la Grau with its tributary, the Ruisseau du Pré de Thalamon, flows through the territory of the municipality.
history
In the 1385 census of the Béarn, 13 households were counted in Bordetes and it was noted that the municipality is in the Bailliage of Pau. Paul Raymond, archivist and historian of the 19th century, noted another mention in the forms of Bordetas and Bordettes in 1538 on the occasion of the Reformation in Béarn.
The proximity to the Bastide of Nay, which offered protection against enemy attacks, and the proximity to the Gave, whose water promoted agriculture, explains the foundation of the community at this point. A lay monastery , home of a landlord and protector of the church, was located in Bourdettes, as in many parishes in the Béarn. In the 19th century, the place experienced an industrial boom when the first cotton mill in Béarn was opened by the Lussagnet & Co company in 1834. 150 workers were employed there in the middle of the 19th century. The company was given up in 2002.
On January 1, 1973, Nay and Bourdettes merged to form the new municipality of Nay-Bourdettes. On January 1, 1997, the two municipalities went their separate ways administratively.
Population development
After a temporary peak in the number of inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century with over 350 inhabitants, the number fell in waves to around half by the 1960s. Since then it has risen sharply and has almost tripled to this day.

Attractions
- Church dedicated to Rochus de Montpellier . The construction method suggests that it was built in the early modern period . The entrance portal on the south side with its keel arch above appears like a replica of the Gothic church portals in Nay, Igon or Asson . Equipment items are u. a. a wooden statue from the 17th century depicting the Madonna and Child and an altarpiece from the 18th century. This contains a depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and shows an attribute of the patron saint , a curled up dog with a piece of bread in its mouth, which, according to legend, he brought to Saint Roch because he was sick with the plague . A Christ monogram can be seen on one of the walls . Such a symbol usually contains, in addition to mostly stylized classical characters from the Greek alphabet Chi (“X”) and Rho (“P”) for the first letters of the Greek word Xristos ( German Christ ), the characters for alpha and omega . In this Christ monogram, the first letter of Salvator ( German savior ) also rolls around the "P" to symbolize the salvation of mankind through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ .
