Attractions

  • Local church, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary . The nave and the lower part of the apse are of Romanesque origin from the 12th century. The north aisle was added or modified in the 14th or 15th century. In 1599 the church was mentioned in the scriptures, then still consecrated to Eutropius of Saintes . In the 18th century, as in many churches at that time, the patronage changed to the Assumption of the Virgin. The building was reinforced for the first time in 1827 and restored in 1884 and 1885. Inside there are six disc-shaped grave stelae, called Hilarri , which originally come from the neighboring cemetery. However, they are in poor condition and some of the inscriptions and engravings are difficult to recognize.
  • Cabidos country estate. Today's castle, located on a hill, dates from the 17th century. Due to the exposed geographic location, it could have replaced an earlier building of greater importance in the same location. The ground floor already underwent a renovation in the 18th century, in which new windows were inserted while preserving the twin windows on the first floor from the century before. Inside, a partially faded fresco shows a basket with flowers and fruit.
  • Country house called Trubessé Castle. In 1419 the sale of the building by Baron de Trubessé to Arnauton Guilhem Du Vignau was mentioned, which suggests that it was built before the 15th century. Due to several extensive renovations, however, the oldest parts of the current structure are no older than from the 16th century. A round tower leans against the west facade. However, it is believed that the complex once had four towers. Modifications and extensions in the 18th century led to the demolition of the other three towers.
