history
In the 11th century there was a hospital in the municipality that no longer exists today. Both villages belonged to the Order of Malta of Caubin and Morlaàs . The basic rule of Peyrelongue resided in a fortress and was mentioned in the 11th and 12th centuries. In Abos there was also a landlord as the successor to the abbot of a lay monastery . In the 1385 census of the Béarn, thirteen households were counted in Peyrelongue and fifteen in subscriptions. Both villages belonged to the Lembeye Bailliage . Over the centuries they came under the same manorial rule, another time they were ruled separately again until they merged administratively in 1843.

Attractions
- Parish church in Peyrelongue, dedicated to Martin of Tours . It was built in the 16th century under the direction of the Commandery of the Order of Malta of Caubin and Morlaàs, to which it was subject until the 18th century. A high bell tower with a polygonal helmet is built in front of the single nave nave , at the foot of which is the entrance. The royal architect and builder Bernard Claverie led in the first half of the 18th century the construction of the sanctuary and the sacristy . The bell tower and chapel were rebuilt between 1852 and 1860 according to plans by the architect Courtet. Other restorations were carried out around 1892. Inside, many items from the 17th to 19th centuries that are registered as national cultural assets are preserved.
- Parish church of Abos, dedicated to the Apostle Andrew . The small Romanesque church was built on a moth in the 11th or 12th century , a rarity in Vic-Bilh. During the Huguenot Wars , it was set on fire in 1569 by Protestant troops under Gabriel de Lorges , Count of Montgomery. The church was restored in the 18th century, as evidenced by the year "1747" on the window sill of a window in the single nave nave. The year "1821" can be seen on the keystone of the entrance, the year of further restoration work. The bell in the bell gable above the entrance dates from the second half of the 16th century. Other furnishings of the church from the 17th to 19th centuries are registered as national cultural assets.
- Motte of subscriptions, erected in the 11th or 12th century. The motte also housed a Romanesque church and the lay monastery. Menaut, abbot of the lay monastery, swore the feudal oath to Gaston Fébus , Viscount of Béarn. In 1385 the lay monastery was mentioned as the house of Lassalle, and in 1675 as au Mouta was counted . It was then sold to Dufaur de Loubouey, and in the 18th century to the Nays-Candau families. The Lassalle house was still listed on the land register from 1828, but was then demolished.
- Castle of Peyrelongue. The landlords of Peyrelongue have been mentioned since the 11th and 12th centuries. After the Andoins family had held the manor and handed it over to the Cassanhère family in 1554, they came to the Miossens at the beginning of the 17th century, who transferred them to the famous Nays-Candau families from Béarn. They probably built the castle in the 18th century. In 1943 it fell victim to a fire, of which only the outbuildings from the late 19th century and the monumental entrance portal are left.
- Dovecote and hen house. The square building in the inner courtyard of the Armau house in the center of Peyrelongue dates back to 1834. Since then, it has undergone major changes, particularly with regard to the walls. His tent roof is covered with slate . The upper floor can only be entered via a flap and is reserved for the pigeons.
