Soumoulou ( Occitan : Somolon ) is a French municipality with 1584 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and is part of the canton of Vallées de l'Ousse et du Lagoin (until 2015: canton of Pontacq ). The inhabitants are called Soumoulois .
geography
Soumoulou is about 18 kilometers east-southeast of Pau at the foot of the Pyrenees . By Soumoulou flowing Ousse . Soumoulou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Limendous in the north and east, Espoey in the east and southeast, Gomer in the south, Boeil-Bezing in the southwest and Nousty in the west.
The former route nationale 117 (today's D817) runs through the municipality .
