history
In the census of the Béarn in 1385, 45 households were counted in Ozenx as in Montestrucq. Both villages were in Bailliage of Castetner . In the 16th century, Montestrucq was the capital of a Bailliage, which in addition to Montestrucq also included L'Hôpital-d'Orion. In Ozenx there was a lay monastery , vassal of the Viscount of Béarn. His abbot owned a water mill in the 17th century , in which all villagers had to have their flour milled. In the 19th century, a well-known spring was well-visited for the eczema healing properties attributed to its water.
On June 30, 1972, the municipalities of Ozenx and Montestrucq merged to form the municipality of Ozenx-Montestrucq.

Attractions
- Parish church of Ozenx-Montestrucq, dedicated to the Apostle Peter . It was built between 1888 and 1905 to replace a church that was considered too old at the time. The glass painter Louis Gesta from Toulouse , well-known in the region , furnished it with glass windows in 1900 . Three of these windows embellish the choir . Two religious personalities are depicted on long, narrow windows, while an oculus in the middle casts a ray-shaped light onto the cross above the tabernacle . The long building with a nave and the bell tower above the entrance porch with a slate- covered helmet are structural elements that are typical of the region.
- Church in Montestrucq, dedicated to the Apostle John . The distinctive element of the church is its massive bell tower above the entrance porch with two ogival entrances. It is equipped with two solid buttresses and a slate-covered bell dome with a lantern . Traces of former window openings and loopholes suggest that the bell tower is a remnant of the former castle of Ozenx-Montestrucq. In earlier times, the elevated location will certainly be surrounded by walls and moats. The interior of the church holds u. a. a baptismal font made of marble with a copper lid, a holy water font in the shape of a shell and a way of the cross with multicolored plasterboards.
- Lay monastery. It was restored and expanded in the 19th century. The lay monastery consists u. a. from a main house, which is surrounded by a small, enclosed park. It was expanded with some dairy farms , oversized barns, horse stables and a wine cellar. In the latter, the part of the grape harvest that was due to the owner of the lay monastery was stored by the tenants . Presumably a high, multi-storey tower was added to the main building in the 19th century. It is equipped with small windows and a bell dome made of zinc with a long, narrow spire. Léon Bérard should be mentioned as one of the most famous residents of the lay monastery over the centuries .
- Estate. It dates from the 17th century and has since been expanded, particularly by its 19th century owner, a bishop . The property consists of two adjoining buildings, a barn and a wine cellar where the tenants brought the grapes to be pressed. The bishop had a chapel built next to this wine cellar from 1870 to 1875 . The construction is one of a wave of inexpensive church buildings in this region at that time. His businesslike style represents the taste of the time. The gable facade shows an entrance with a slightly curved border made of white stones. A three-part window above the entrance was given the same frame.
- Dovecote . The Maisonnave house in Ozenx-Montestrucq has an extraordinary dovecote built on an archway that separates the farm buildings from the rest of the residence. The construction of such a dovecote was only allowed after the French Revolution , because in the times of the Ancien Régimes this was a privilege of the nobles.
