The inhabitants are called Coublucois or Coublucoises . The name in the Gascognischen language is Cobluc .

geography

Coublucq is located about 35 km north of Pau in the historic province of Béarn on the northern edge of the department.

The place is surrounded by the neighboring communities:

Poursiugues-Boucoue
Vignes Neighboring communities Boueilh-Boueilho-Lasque
Méracq Pouliacq

Coublucq is located in the catchment area of the Adour River . Two of its tributaries, the Gabas and the Louts , flow on the eastern and western borders of the municipality. The Rimblé, a tributary of the Gabas, irrigates the eastern part of the municipality.

history

Several barrows attest to the first settlement in prehistory . The oldest objects found in this tumuli date from the Neolithic Age . Although the parish is on a geographic level, there are no signs of previous defenses.

Coublucq was one of the eleven parishes of the Vicomté of Louvigny since the 10th century . During the Huguenot Wars , the Vicomté did not belong to the province of Béarn, where Jeanne d'Albret , Queen of Navarre , introduced the Reformation in her area from 1560 . It can therefore be assumed that Coublucq was a refuge for Catholic priests from Protestant attacks.

Until 1790, Coubluc belonged to the Chalosse region in the south of what is now the Landes department and to the district of Saint-Sever , as it is also shown on the map by Cassini from 1750. Since the French Revolution , the community has belonged to the Basses-Pyrénées department, and since the French Consulate it has had its current name.

Population development

After the highest number of inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century with almost 300 inhabitants, the number has been reduced by two thirds during short-term growth phases and has settled at a level of around 100 inhabitants.

The nave with a nave is closed by a semicircular apse and is covered with a slate roof, the bell tower is built as an entrance porch. Seven stained glass windows with religious figures were designed in the second half of the 19th century by the glass painter Louis Saint-Blancat from Toulouse .

The window openings were redesigned in the 18th century, and the building was considerably expanded in the 19th century.
