history

In the Middle Ages, Denguin was under the Bailiwick of Pau and there was a lay monastery on site that was dependent on the Vice-County of Béarn . Such monasteries, called Abbaye laïque , were very typical of the French Pyrenees region at the time. The archivist Paul Raymond calculated in the 19th century that there were 46 taxable households ( Feux fiscaux ) in Denguin in 1385 .

In 1654 a barony was formed, which included the places Denguin, Vignoles and Aussevielle and was subordinate to the Vice-County of Béarn.
