Mazerolles (in the local Gascon dialect Béarnais Maseròlas ) is a French municipality with 1115 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
geography
The municipality of Mazerolles is located on the Luy de Béarn River , about 20 kilometers north of Pau , the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department. In addition to the main settlement, the hamlets of Manaut, Matibet, Mounat, Péguilhet and Poey belong to Mazerolles. The neighboring communities are Larreule in the north, Momas and Aubin in the east, Vlichenave-d'Arthez in the south, Cescau in the southwest, Boumourt in the west and Uzan in the northwest.
history
Mazerolles belonged to the County of Bigorre and in 1385 Mazerolles was part of the Bailliage of Pau . The village was subordinate to the Abbey of Larreule .

Attractions
The bastide is dated to the 13th century. Some 18th and 19th century farms are now officially recognized as historical monuments . The Saint-Martin church dates from the 19th century. A war memorial for the fallen in World War I is also classified as a Monument historique.
