Pontacq is a French commune with 2,936 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Pau and was the capital of the canton of Pontacq until its dissolution in 2015 , since then it has belonged to the canton of Vallées de l'Ousse et du Lagoin .
geography
The municipality of Pontacq is located on the border with the Midi-Pyrénées region at the foot of the Pyrenees , about twelve kilometers northwest of Lourdes . The Ousse , a 42-kilometer tributary of the Gave de Pau, flows through Pontacq .
