Rontignon ( Occitan : Hrontinhon ) is a French municipality with 1833 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Ouzom, Gave et Rives du Neez (until 2015: canton of Pau-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Rontignonais .

geography

Rontignon is located about five kilometers southeast of Pau in the historic province of Béarn . The Soust River limits the municipality in the southeast. Rontignon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aressy in the north, Meillon in the east and northeast, Narcastet in the east and southeast, Bosdarros in the south and southwest, Gelos in the west and southwest and Uzos in the northwest.
