Espoey ( Occitan : Espuei ) is a French municipality with 1169 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau , to the municipality association Nord Est Béarn and is part of the canton of Vallées de l'Ousse et du Lagoin (until 2015: canton of Pontacq ). The inhabitants are called Espoyens .

geography

Espoey is located about 17 kilometers east-southeast of Pau at the foot of the Pyrenees . The Ousse flows through Espoey . Espoey is surrounded by the neighboring communities Limendous in the north and north-west, Lourenties in the north, Luquet in the east, Livron in the south-east, Hours in the south, Lucgarier in the south-west, Gomer in the west and Soumoulou in the north-west.

The A64 autoroute and the former route nationale 117 (today's D817) run through the municipality .
