Luquet is a French commune with 397 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the Canton of Ossun .

Luquet is located about 16 kilometers west of Tarbes in an exclave of the department in the neighboring department Pyrénées-Atlantiques .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 480 by the middle of the 19th century. Subsequently, the size of the community fell to around 200 with brief recovery periods up to the 1970s, before a period of growth began that continues today .

Luquet can be reached via Routes départementales 69 (Pyrénées-Atlantiques: 311), 70 (Pyrénées-Atlantiques: 42) and 817, the former Route nationale 117 .

The Autoroute A64 , called La Pyrénéenne , touches the area of ​​the municipality on the southern edge without a direct exit to the place. The closest exit 11 is approx. 8.5 kilometers to the west and serves the municipality of Nousty in the neighboring department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

The commune is also connected to other communes in the départements by a line from the Lignes intermodales d'Occitanie bus network from Pau to Tarbes.
