Liac is a French commune with 196 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Val d'Adour-Rustan-Madiranais (until 2015: canton of Rabastens-de-Bigorre ).

The inhabitants are called Liacais and Liacaises .

Liac is located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Tarbes in the historic county of Bigorre on the northern edge of the department.

Liac is surrounded by the five neighboring communities:

Population development

After records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 345 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to its lowest level with around 155 inhabitants, with brief recovery phases by the 1980s. A phase of moderate growth followed, which continues to this day.
