Pujo is a French commune with 636 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Vic-en-Bigorre .

The inhabitants are called Pujolais and Pujolaises .

Pujo is located about 13 kilometers north of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Bigorre on the north-western edge of the department.

Population development

After records began, the population rose to an initial high of around 610 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to around 415 with brief recovery phases until after the Second World War , before a phase of at times strong growth began which continues to this day and has led to the previous high level of population being exceeded.
