Estirac is a French commune with 103 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Val d'Adour-Rustan-Madiranais (until 2015: canton of Maubourguet ).

The inhabitants are called Estiracais and Estiracaises .

Estirac is located about 30 kilometers north of Tarbes in the Région naturelle Rivière-Basse on the northwestern edge of the department.

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 210 at the beginning of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell with short recovery phases to a low of around 85 inhabitants before a moderate phase by the 1970s Growth set in, which has recently stagnated again.
