Goudon is a French commune with 231 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton of Tournay ).

The inhabitants are called Goudonais and Goudonaises .

Goudon is located about 13 kilometers east of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Bigorre .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a high of around 550 by the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community decreased with short recovery phases to the lowest level of 175 inhabitants by the 1960s, before a phase with moderate Growth began and continues to this day.

Personalities

Sixte Vignon was born on January 5, 1912 in Dijon , died on June 7, 1944 in Goudon. As a member of the Resistance with the rank of commander, he was fatally wounded in a battle with units of German occupation troops .
