geography

The Petite Baïse flows through the 1.86 km² municipal area in the catchment area of the Garonne . Hachan does not have a grown village center, it is rather a collection of different farms. The Mairie (town hall) was built roughly in the middle of this loosened settlement structure. Hachan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Puntous in the north, Betpouy in the east and south and Campuzan in the west.
Place name
The place name developed from the Latin de Fayssis (1383/1384) via de Fayssano (1405) and de Faysano in the further course of the 15th century (each in the tax books of the city Auch ) to the name Hachan Dessus, which was preserved in church records in 1749 . Hachan belonged in the Ancien Régime to the Sénéchaussée of Auch in the Pays des Quatre-Vallées des Vallée Magnoac . When the cantons were formed, Hachan came to the canton of Castelnau-Magnoac in 1790 .
