Oueilloux ( Occitan Uelhons ) is a southern French municipality with 179 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the center of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region .
Location and climate
The municipality of Oueilloux is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees at an altitude of around 460 m . The nearest town, Tarbes , is just 15 km northwest. The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 850 mm / year) falls mainly in the winter half-year.

Because by the phylloxera crisis in the wine sector and the increasing mechanization of agriculture caused rural exodus , the population of the municipality continuously declined since the early 20th century.

history
The old place name Avelhes or Velhos is first mentioned in the 14th century. From the Middle Ages until the beginning of the French Revolution , the municipality was part of the historic Bigorre province .
Attractions
The Église de Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur , which is surrounded by the local cemetery and built in the late 19th century on the site of a previous medieval building, is dedicated to the martyrs Justus and Pastor .
